The Cuban actress Zajaris Fernández offered her full account this Monday morning of the violent altercation she had with comedian Alexis Valdés the night before at a bar in Miami, during the final of the 2026 World Cup between Spain and Argentina.
In a 31-minute Instagram live broadcast, Zajaris recounted that she arrived at the venue invited by friends who had a reserved table to watch the match, unaware that Valdés and his wife, Claudia Valdés, were also present.
According to her account, it was Claudia who took the first step: she approached her to ask her to leave the place and, with evident hostility, asked, "Do you speak Spanish?"
Zajaris refused to leave, not understanding the reason for the request. Shortly after, Alexis Valdés approached her table four times to confront her, accusing her of being an ally of the communicator Alex Otaola, of speaking poorly about his daughters, and of being a "little drug addict."
The actress categorically denied all the accusations: "I don't drink alcohol. I have never had a drink in my life. The people who go out with me know that I only drink water."
The situation escalated when Zajaris attempted to record the incident with his phone. According to his account, Valdés knocked it down twice, breaking the screen and the rear camera, and shoved him, which forced other people present to intervene physically to separate them.
Zajaris called the police, who arrived at the scene, took a report of the incident, and ordered Alexis and Claudia Valdés to leave the establishment. Despite her lawyer advising her to request an arrest, the actress decided against it: "I felt uncomfortable," she explained.
Regarding the origin of the conflict, Zajaris was direct: "The only problem we might have is about a certain amount of money. Nothing more," referring to a debt that, according to her, Valdés has owed her for years and that she has never claimed.
She also denied the accusation of being an ally of Otaola: "I haven't spoken to Otaola in two years. And still, I haven't stopped supporting him in his ideals that relate to me."
Despite everything, Zajaris recognized the comedian's talent even when speaking with the agents: "He is a great Cuban artist because, to me, he was, he is, a talented guy, and that's something that can't be disputed."
The actress framed the incident as a direct attack on her freedom of expression and her anti-communist political stance, comparing Valdés's behavior to methods typical of the Cuban regime: "Today, you exhibited a socialist communist, abusive attitude. You broke my phone."
Zajaris emphasized that the location was equipped with security cameras that would have recorded everything that happened, and that he has "no fear or shame about being seen." The altercation between Alexis Valdés and Zajaris took place in front of numerous witnesses at the establishment.
The conflict between Valdés and Otaola goes back a long way: since 2022, they have been engaged in a public dispute in which the comedian has called the communicator a "mercenary" and a "psychopath without empathy or soul." The accusations of being an "ally of Otaola" serve as a marker for positioning within the internal divisions of the Cuban exile community in Miami.
Zajaris wrapped up his live stream with a statement that encapsulates his stance on the events: "Down with the dictatorship and those who act like dictators, regardless of which side they're on."
The police report of the incident will be available approximately 14 days after the altercation, that is, around August 2nd.
