A passenger aboard a Carnival Cruise Line cruise became the center of a viral controversy after being filmed using a dining fork to scratch her bare foot, which was allegedly affected by fungus.
The skin flakes fell to the floor in front of the astonished gaze of other diners. The woman rearranged her fork on the table, continuing to use it as if nothing had happened.
The series of six videos, published by the account of Instagram @lucky_charmedcourt, has accumulated over 28 million views and sparked a wave of outrage on social media.
The initial clips show the woman scratching her foot with her hands and then taking a fork from the restaurant's tableware to continue. The last videos in the series depict the passengers who recorded the incident confronting the ship's captain with the footage.
The incident is reported to have occurred aboard the Carnival Sunrise, according to the specialized site CruiseHive, although this information has not been officially confirmed. The ship was on a five-day cruise through the Caribbean that departed from Miami on Monday, July 20, with scheduled stops at Celebration Key, Princess Cays, and Nassau in the Bahamas.
Carnival was quick to respond
On July 22, the company published a statement on its official Instagram account that combined firmness and humor: "Forks are meant for food, not for foot care."
In the same message, the company outlined the measures taken: “As soon as we became aware of the situation, our team promptly addressed the issue with the passenger and removed the utensil from service.”
The statement also included a humorous nod: the word "feet" was crossed out and replaced with "fleet," in a direct reference to the incident.
Even so, the tone was clear: "Cleanliness and hygiene are no joke to us. Our crew works hard every day to maintain high standards throughout our fleet and to ensure that all guests enjoy a safe, clean, and comfortable vacation."
The official post from Carnival received over 32,600 likes on Instagram. The original video showcasing the improper use of cutlery has accumulated more than 9 million views, 118,000 likes, and 58,000 comments on the same platform.
The audience's reaction in the comments ranged from disgust to laughter. One user wrote: "POV: you can afford a trip on a Carnival cruise, but not an antifungal cream and your own scratching tool."
Another person added, "That's why I eat with plastic utensils." A third was more graphic: "Dead skin cells flying through the air."
This episode is not the first involving passengers of this company in recent months. In June, a brutal fight among passengers of the Carnival Conquest was recorded and went viral.
In August 2025, another incident aboard the Carnival Sunshine ended in a massive fight reportedly triggered by a dispute at the buffet.
The fork involved in the incident has been permanently removed from service, as confirmed by the shipping company itself.
