A 43-year-old Cuban citizen was arrested this Monday in Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras, accused of being part of the criminal organization known as "El Súper Javi," a gang identified by authorities as operating micro-trafficking points in the western part of the country.
According to the Honduran newspaper La Tribuna, the arrested individual has been identified as Rodolfo Infante Mora, also known as "El Cubano." According to the police investigation, he had been part of the organization for about nine months and was responsible for supervising, supplying, and distributing drugs in various areas of the Santa Eduviges neighborhood.
The capture took place during an operation carried out by the Anti-Extortion and Terrorist Associations Division (DAET), with support from the National Directorate of Community Prevention and Security and the Police Intelligence Directorate, as part of efforts to combat micro-trafficking in the western region of Honduras.
In the same operation, Carlos Alberto Fugón Garay, alias "El Doctor," originally from La Ceiba, Atlántida, was arrested. Authorities claim that he had been part of the same organization for about a year and was responsible for the direct sale of drugs in the area.
During the intervention, the agents seized 22 packages containing crack stones, 25 doses of suspected marijuana, cash, and two cell phones, which were taken into custody as part of the investigation.
According to the police report, Infante Mora already had a record for drug trafficking since January 2026, while his alleged accomplice had a history of public disorder.
Both were made available to the Public Ministry, accused of drug trafficking to the detriment of public health in the state of Honduras, as investigations into the activities of the gang progress.
Other cases of Cubans linked to drug trafficking
The arrest adds to other recent cases involving Cuban citizens in drug trafficking investigations in the region.
In January of this year, a Cuban was arrested in San Pedro Sula and later extradited to the United States, where he was wanted on charges of cocaine trafficking after being a fugitive for more than 15 years.
Similar cases have also been reported in Mexico. In March, two Cubans were arrested for alleged drug selling and, in July, another citizen of the island was captured in Tabasco during an anti-drug operation in which authorities seized crack, marijuana, and methamphetamine.
The DAET, created in May 2026 to combat extortion and organized crime structures, stated that it will continue to carry out operations against drug distribution points in western Honduras. According to data released by Infobae Honduras, the unit reported the capture of 67 suspected extortionists in its first two months of operation and claimed to have prevented losses exceeding 100 million lempiras for victims of this crime.
