Two Cuban citizens and one Mexican were arrested in the city of Tapachula, Chiapas, during a police operation in which authorities seized several doses of drugs allegedly intended for sale.

The procedure took place last Friday during a search at a residence located in the Calcáneo Beltrán neighborhood, on 9th Sur between 20th and 22nd Oriente, according to reports from local media.

The operation involved members of the Pakal Immediate Reaction Force, the Border State Guard, the Mexican Army, the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, and the Mexican Navy.

During the intervention, authorities seized 47 bags of marijuana, 50 doses of a substance known as "piedra," 24 doses of cocaine, 10 business cards allegedly used for sales, and 350 pesos in cash.

The detainees were identified as Yoan N., 21 years old, and Juayohel Emerson N., 24 years old, both of Cuban nationality, as well as Jorge Ignacio N., 22 years old, a Mexican citizen.

After their arrest, the three were informed of their rights and transferred to the preventive detention facilities of the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), where they were held at the disposal of the authorities for the alleged crime against public health.

The area where the search took place was secured for several hours while the proceedings were ongoing, in order to prevent the entry of onlookers and the passage of vehicles.

The operation is part of the ongoing actions of the Huacalli operation, a security strategy focused on combating drug dealing, apprehending armed individuals, and curbing criminal activities in the border region, including the trafficking of migrants to northern Mexico.

In recent weeks, there has also been news of another incident involving a citizen from the island. A 45-year-old Cuban was arrested in Mexico City after being caught inside a house with eight pairs of leather boots that he was allegedly attempting to steal.

The incident occurred in the Ampliación Penitenciaría neighborhood, in the Venustiano Carranza borough, when neighbors alerted the police about an ongoing robbery. With the owner's consent, the officers entered the residence and found the suspect still inside the property.

During the review, they secured a black bag with the boots, which were estimated to be worth about 20,000 Mexican pesos. The man was arrested and made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office along with the recovered merchandise, while the authorities determine his legal situation.

These episodes occur amid an increase in the flow of Cuban migrants to Mexico, driven by the economic and social crisis on the island, which has led thousands of citizens to seek opportunities outside the country or to use Mexican territory as a stopover on their way to the United States.
