A clip of less than a minute became one of the week’s most heartwarming moments on social media: a boy welcomes his little sister at an airport in Cuba, and the scene says it all without the need for words.
The video was published by the user @arlychiny on TikTok. In just a few days, the clip accumulated nearly 14,000 views, 873 likes, and 65 comments, most of which are heart emojis, love-struck faces, and tears of joy that do not require translation.
The followers quickly reacted. "Your kids are growing up so well!" wrote one user, to which the creator responded with an enthusiastic "Yes!" filled with emojis. Another follower left a more measured but equally warm message: "Congratulations and many blessings to you all," and received a heartfelt thank you from @arlychiny.
This type of reunion at Cuban airports has become a recurring trend on TikTok in recent years, driven by a reality that thousands of Cuban families know well: the distance, the wait, and the overwhelming joy of the embrace that finally arrives.
Family separation is a collective experience in Cuba.
Similar scenes have moved the Cuban audience in recent weeks. A reunion of brothers captured in the street went viral at the end of July, and just a day before @arlychiny's video, another reunion clip at a Cuban airport surpassed 13,700 views.
In June as well, the embrace between two little cousins at an airport left over 50,000 people who saw it on TikTok speechless.
The video by @arlychiny adds to that trend of moments that, in just a few seconds, encapsulate everything it means to grow apart from someone you love and then have them back close again. For the Cuban audience, both on the island and abroad, no further explanation is necessary.
