Four years mean many hugs awaiting, many dinners without a filled chair, many birthdays celebrated over video calls. Osvaldo Pulido, known on TikTok as @osvaldo.pulido0, experienced that long-awaited reunion when he finally returned to Cuba to see his family, and he recorded everything so that the world could feel it with him.

The video doesn't need many words to convey what is seen: tight hugs, shouts of joy, tears that ask for no permission.

One of the most touching moments in the clip comes when his mother thanks God for having her son back once again. That scene encapsulates, perhaps better than any other, what it means to emigrate and return after years: the family is still there, but time has passed for everyone.

The Cuban community on TikTok responded as it usually does to this type of video: with heartfelt emotions displayed on their screens. Dozens of comments filled with emojis of tears, hearts, and hands in prayer flooded the post.

And this type of reunion has become one of the most recurring —and most emotional— phenomena on Cuban social media in recent years. Similar cases have been repeated throughout 2025 and 2026, with separations ranging from three to twelve years, and each one generates the same wave of empathy among Cubans inside and outside the island.
