A video posted on TikTok by user @ikisleivi shows the reunion of her uncle "Miguelón" with his mother in Cuba after a decade of separation, and the clip quickly sparked comments due to the apparent emotional restraint of the moment.

In the images, a young woman and an older lady with white hair in a red floral dress can be seen. The video features the flags of the United States and Cuba superimposed, with Maldita Distancia by Bebeshito playing in the background. The accompanying text says it all: "Miguelón visiting Cuba after 10 long years without seeing his mom, thank God this dream became a reality, blessings."

But not everyone in the comments experienced it with the same enthusiasm. One user wrote, "Very bland overall, no," and another was more direct: "So dry, after 10 years, I don't understand."

It was then that the creator of the video spoke up. In response to one of the comments, @ikisleivi made it clear that there was much more behind that scene than meets the eye: "Oh, my dear, what a lovely comment, thank you very much. I'm sure you are very charismatic. I don't need to explain myself, but I will tell you that thank God, who can do anything, my uncle was able to go to Cuba after everything he went through in hospitals, which I don't need to explain to you, thank youuu."

The response revealed that this Cuban had gone through a series of hospitalizations, putting the scene into perspective: what some interpreted as coldness could simply be the exhaustion or the restrained emotion of someone who arrived after a long health battle.

Not all the comments were critical. Another user summarized it with a phrase: "Only the mother will know." And someone was brief but clear: "If it was like that with your mom after 10 years, ufff."

This type of video is part of a well-established trend on TikTok in recent years, where the reunions of Cuban emigrants with their families on the island generate waves of reactions. Similar cases have garnered anywhere from thousands to hundreds of thousands of views, like that of Pedro Solano, who returned after 20 years away from Cuba, and whose video approached 710,000 views. Another reunion at a Cuban airport published in early August accumulated over 13,700 views in just a few days.
