A stabbing fight in the hallways of Miami Northwestern Senior High School, located in the Liberty City neighborhood, left two young individuals hospitalized on Monday, according to local news local news.
The incident occurred shortly before 12:30 PM at the campus located at 1100 Northwest and 71st Street.
The Miami Fire Department responded after receiving reports of an altercation and found a young man aged 18 years with a stab wound and a teenager aged 15 years with a laceration on his hand.
Both were transferred to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
What the video shows
Students recorded the confrontation with their cell phones, and the images circulated on social media.
In the video two individuals are seen attacking a classmate in the hallway, hitting him and violently throwing him to the ground, while other students flee in panic.
It is also clearly heard one of the students warning that another was carrying a knife.
The scene immediately raised alarm among family members.
“Then how did that boy get in with weapons? So here they don't care, they don’t check anyone, nothing,” questioned a relative of the students interviewed by Univision.
Another relative, identified as Mrs. Reina, expressed her distress: "Of course, it worries me. Right now, I told my nephew, avoid, avoid, avoid."
Deliano Doll, the father of a student at the school, was more straightforward: "I'm already eager to get her out of there because, just imagine, danger is everywhere, but one always worries."
The accused before the judge
This Wednesday, the 15-year-old minor identified as responsible for the stabbing appeared before a judge.
The court ordered his house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor and scheduled the next appearance for September 21.
Prosecutors announced their intention to charge him as an adult, a legal provision allowed by Florida law in cases of serious crimes committed by minors.
The defense for the minor presented a different version of the events.
His lawyer argued that the young man was assaulted first: "He was attacked by two other people... so he started out as the alleged victim... he has no prior record... his parents are here in court."
The father of the accused, visibly distressed, stated that his son had been harassed for days prior.
“They had been instigating, threatening my son, mistreating him for several days, and (here) is the outcome,” he stated to Telemundo 51.
He added that he had not yet been able to speak with his son and that he did not know why he was carrying a knife.
According to reports from WSVN, three people were arrested in total in connection with the fight.
In addition, the police found a firearm and drugs in a Jeep parked near the campus, and a 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with that discovery separately.
A team with a history of violence
Miami Northwestern is not unfamiliar with this type of incidents. In October 2025, a 15-year-old student was arrested following a beating in a bathroom on campus.
A month earlier, in September of that same year, security was reinforced after several fights were recorded on video, leading to three students being summoned by the police.
Liberty City, the neighborhood where the school is located, has a history of armed violence that has affected its student community for decades.
The Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) confirmed the incident and indicated that it resulted in criminal charges, without providing further details about those involved.
In a statement, the district reiterated its position: "The district takes the safety and well-being of its students and employees very seriously and remains committed to maintaining a safe school environment for all."
The case arrives at a delicate time for the county's educational system: the 2026-2027 school year began with a drop in enrollment of more than 15,000 students compared to the previous year, falling from 230,172 to 215,078 students in schools directly managed by the district.
