The driver Ramón Gresequi, affectionately known as "Ramoncito" in his community, was found dead this Friday in Moa, Holguín, a day after disappearing along with the truck he was driving for the Nickel Mechanical Company (EMNI).
Amalia Cruz Liranza was one of the first to confirm the news in the Facebook group "The Most Exclusive in Moa," citing her sister-in-law, a coworker of the deceased, as the source. The page Nio reporting a crime also reported the case.
According to information gathered from publications by individuals who knew Gresequi and in Facebook groups from Moa, the body was found in the locality of Yaguaneque, on the hill of Miraflores, where the television tower of the municipality is located.
The way he was found —hidden in a hollow and wrapped in nylon— indicates, according to neighbors on social media, a premeditated crime, with the motive believed to be the theft of the white Toyota truck with license plate BP 211 606 that Gresequi was driving at the time of his disappearance.
Yakima Lamoru, a neighbor who had been reporting the disappearance from the beginning, confirmed the death with a mourning message on Facebook: "It is not fair that to obtain something that does not belong to them, they take the life of a human being, who owed no one anything and bothered no one."
Consternation quickly spread through community groups on social media, where dozens of neighbors expressed their grief and outrage.
"They took away a great friend from us, a man of unwavering integrity, what pain," one of them wrote.
Another comment summed up the general feeling: “It’s a murder, it’s an injustice, I have no words... The only thing I ask of God the Father is that for once in history true justice is served. They have taken everything from that family: a father from his children, a good working man, a husband, an educated man, a neighbor.”
Gresequi had left on Wednesday around 11:00 AM from his workplace without his backup medication, intending to return quickly, according to those close to him.
As of the time of this publication, there was no official confirmation regarding the discovery of the body or information about possible arrests, while the community of Moa demands that "for once, true justice is served."
The case adds to a pattern of criminal violence linked to vehicle theft that has claimed several lives in Cuba during 2026: in May, Dairon Urbay Solan was found strangled in Villa Clara after his electric tricycle was stolen, and in August, Carlos Luis Suárez Navarro was killed in Cienfuegos during an assault aimed at stealing his scooter.
Cuba lacks an official alert system for missing persons, which forces families to turn to Facebook groups and independent platforms like NiO Reportando Un Crimen to organize searches, just as happened in this case from the very beginning.
