Family seeks help to repatriate the body of a young Cuban who passed away in Russia to Cuba

The family of the Cuban Alberto Luis Peña Gaspar, 34 years old and affectionately known as "Pelao," is going through profound sorrow following the news of his passing in Russia, as they try to gather the necessary resources to transport his body to Cuba for a proper farewell.

A post shared this Tuesday by Nilda Damaris Puig Santiesteban called for solidarity to locate the body of the young man and to complete the necessary procedures for his repatriation.

"Alberto was in Russia, where he unfortunately lost his life. He was an only child, and his family is experiencing a moment of deep pain and despair," Puig explained.

According to the publication, the family needs help both to find out where their remains are currently located and to cover the high costs associated with their transfer to Cuba.

"Pelayo needs to return home," Puig pointed out, who also requested financial assistance and asked that the appeal be shared to reach individuals who can help with the process.

The news of his passing has brought forth numerous expressions of grief among family and friends. Ledia Infante, who stated that Alberto was her granddaughter's husband, remembered him with a heartfelt message.

"How sad, my child, your departure. How soon you left us," she wrote. In another comment, she explained that the young man had died during the early hours of the morning and that the family was still trying to come to terms with what had happened. The messages also reveal that Alberto left behind a six-year-old son.

Another acquaintance, Yoandra Pérez Galindo, emphasized the anguish that the young man's mother is experiencing due to the uncertainty surrounding the location of his remains and expressed her wish that they could return to Cuba so that the family can give him a final farewell.

So far, the consulted publications do not specify the circumstances or the cause of Alberto's death in Russia, nor the location where it occurred.

The family continues to actively seek assistance in obtaining information about his remains and gathering the necessary funds for his repatriation to Cuba, where they hope to say goodbye to him alongside their loved ones.
