A surveillance camera recorded a man climbing a pipe on the exterior of a house and tampering with an LED light fixture, attempting to remove it, in the Aurora neighborhood of Las Tunas municipality on Saturday morning.
The images, shared on Facebook, show the individual quickly climbing the structure to reach the light fixture, which he repeatedly moves with his hands in what the author of the post denounced as an attempted theft.
"Attempted robbery in the Aurora neighborhood. Any information would be appreciated," wrote Lázara Milena Perdomo Domínguez while sharing the recording.
While some users joked about the man's climbing skills, others tried to offer clues to identify him. One internet user even claimed to have been a previous victim of someone with similar characteristics.
"That same person robbed me a month ago; they have a tattoo on their leg," claimed one user. Another user also pointed out this detail: "They have a tattoo on one leg. Start looking there."
These statements are based on testimonies published on social media and have not been independently verified.
Other neighbors believe that the individual may not have been alone. "He was with someone else because he gestured," commented a user while interpreting one of his movements during the recording.
The incident also sparked criticism of the police response to the thefts. "One can't even sleep peacefully anymore. We have to keep night watches in the neighborhoods, because we can't even rely on the police," stated a social media user.
The concern coincides with a deterioration in security indicators documented by the Cuban Citizen Audit Observatory (OCAC). The organization recorded 2,833 verified crimes in 2025, including 1,536 robberies, while during the first half of 2026, it reported an increase in lethality associated with criminal acts.
Las Tunas has also reported incidents of theft targeting essential infrastructures during September, including the theft of solar panels and ETECSA cables in Amancio, impacting water services, telecommunications, and electricity generation.

In the midst of this situation, cameras installed by individuals have become a common tool for documenting thefts and seeking information about the perpetrators. Similar incidents have recently been recorded in Cárdenas and Havana.
