The state of Florida has opened applications for replenishing benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for households that lost food due to Hurricane Isaias.

But one important fact to know is that eligible beneficiaries have until Monday, October 19, 2026 to submit their application.

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) confirmed the availability of the process on its official hurricane Isaias assistance page.

The measure was also announced in the state recovery report released this Monday.

The replacement is intended exclusively for individuals who are already receiving SNAP benefits and who lost food as a result of the hurricane therefore it does not constitute a new enrollment in the program nor guarantee that all applications will be approved.

Eligible households can receive a replacement of up to the previously approved monthly amount of SNAP benefits, subject to the appropriate evaluation.

The DCF established that the process is available for residents of the following 14 counties in Florida:

  • Bay
  • Calhoun
  • Escambia
  • Franklin
  • Gadsden
  • Gulf
  • Holmes
  • Jackson
  • Jefferson
  • Leon
  • Okaloosa
  • Santa Rosa
  • Walton
  • Washington

Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach are not included in the list of eligible counties for this special replenishment.

To request the benefits, interested parties must log into their account on the Florida MyACCESS portal. Once inside, they need to locate the green strip on the main panel and select the option «Individual Replacement Request».

The procedure establishes important differences regarding the documents that beneficiaries must submit, depending on the county in which they reside.

In Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, and Washington, households do not have to provide additional documentation to verify the loss of food.

Instead, residents of Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Jefferson, and Leon must submit, through their MyACCESS account, documentation that certifies a power outage of four hours or more.

The exemption from documents to prove the loss of food in the first group of counties does not eliminate the other eligibility requirements of the program.

The official deadline to request the replacement ends on October 19. Authorities have not announced an extension or specified a closing time for the receipt of applications.

This assistance is different from the disaster food assistance program known as D-SNAP, which is aimed at emergency situations and is subject to different requirements and authorizations. The DCF indicated that it is continuing to evaluate other SNAP-related options for the affected counties.

The opening of applications signifies a change from the previously reported situation. On Sunday, authorities were still evaluating possible measures for replenishing food benefits, while residents were being informed about the resources available to obtain food and assistance after the hurricane.

Now, households that meet the conditions can submit their application directly through MyACCESS, without waiting for another assistance program to be announced.
