Florida Power & Light (FPL), one of the major electric companies in Florida, reported that it has nearly completed the restoration of service in six of the eight counties affected by Hurricane Isaias, after restoring electricity to more than 85% of the customers who experienced outages during the storm.

The result corresponds to the balance as of 10:00 PM on Monday, Central Daylight Time (CDT), equivalent to 03:00 UTC on Tuesday the 13th, as confirmed by the company in a new official statement.

FPL indicated that with this result it achieved the recovery goal announced for Monday. The company reported more than 380,000 service interruptions resolved by that point, although this figure does not correspond to an identical number of people affected.

The outstanding work is primarily concentrated in Escambia and Santa Rosa, the two counties where the damages caused by Isaias have made repairs more difficult. Crews continue to address those areas, and the company expects to nearly complete the restoration of service before the end of this Tuesday.

The current result represents an improvement compared to the previous assessment, when FPL reduced its recovery target from 95% to 85% for Monday and extended the more complex repairs in Escambia and Santa Rosa until Tuesday.

Among the confirmed results, FPL also reported that it had restored electricity to all affected critical infrastructure facilities and to the schools that were scheduled to open this Tuesday.

The company warned that some users may continue to experience outages or fluctuations in electricity even after the network has been restored, due to additional damage related to the hurricane that was not initially detected.

In certain homes and businesses, the restoration will also depend on whether the individual electrical installations are in good condition to receive the service safely. When there is damage to this equipment, FPL recommends consulting a licensed electrician before requesting reconnection.

For residents who are still without electricity, FPL has more than ten assistance points open in the region, where they provide water, ice, and information about repairs.

Customers can check FPL's official channels or report outages by calling 1-800-468-8243. Those in need of financial assistance to repair electrical equipment in their properties can review the requirements of the Care to Share program.
