The Cuban singer Señorita Dayana responded with humor and determination to those who criticize her for her age and suggest that she should retire from the stage. Far from feeling affected, the artist made it clear that she intends to continue singing, dancing, and enjoying her career for many more years.
In a video posted on Instagram titled "Bad News", the performer posed a direct question to her detractors: "Do you really think that reaching 40, 50, 60, 70, or 80 years old, whatever age it may be, is the time to retire?".
Dayana, who recorded the video after attending a celebration at the Victoria School, proudly defended her age and stated that she does not intend to appear younger than she is.
"Yes, I am proudly 40; I have my 40 and I don't want to look 20. But I am working so that when those who are 20 reach 40, they will want to look like me, because I know I look divine, I am fantastic, I am beautiful, I am lovely, precious, and if you don't believe it, I do believe it," she expressed.
To defend her position, the singer mentioned major international figures such as Madonna, Cher, Céline Dion, Jennifer López, and Shakira, artists who have continued to develop their careers after turning 40.
"Reaching 40 doesn't mean you have to retire; on the contrary, this is a fantastic age," he stated. He also referenced Ricardo Arjona and his well-known song dedicated to women in their forties.
But the most resounding response came when she addressed directly those who question her presence on stage and on social media.
“To those who are bothered, I have some bad news: Do you see me? You will continue to see me,” he declared.
The artist was also unreserved in responding to those who believe she makes a fool of herself with her dances and posts.
"I'm going to keep making a fool of myself. If you think it's ridiculous, I'll keep doing it until my last day," she asserted, before explaining what motivates her to continue: "I love what I do, I love dancing, I like being happy, enjoying life."
He even took the opportunity to joke about the criticism he receives and the buzz it generates on his social media: "I hope my prominent fans continue to share their opinions on this, because it also helps us generate revenue."
The response comes at a time of musical activity for the Cuban artist, who returned to music in July with "The Best Thing Miami Has," a collaboration with Osmani García and Fuego, after her second maternity.
Among her recent releases, "Bonita," a song that surpassed one million views on YouTube in 2024 also stands out.
For now, Miss Dayana has no intention of being swayed by criticism or giving up what she enjoys doing.
“I’m going to keep doing what I want and being happy and posting it on social media,” she concluded.
