He paid 80 dollars a night and ended up having a tremendous disappointment! A Cuban known on TikTok as BabyAndy shared his outrage over the conditions that, according to his claims, he found during his stay at the Península Ancón hotel in Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus, formerly known as Meliá Península Trinidad.

In a video posted on TikTok on October 17, the Cuban showcased some of the issues he claims to have experienced in the establishment, ranging from a lack of water to the condition of the rooms and the challenges in obtaining food and beverages.

One of the most striking scenes of the recording occurs when the guest attempts to turn on the taps in room 1217 and finds that not a single drop of water comes out, despite it being only 3:52 in the afternoon.

"They turn off the water from nine in the morning until six in the evening," he said, visibly upset about a situation that, as he explained, was recurring during his stay.

But his complaints didn't end there. The Cuban reported that when he arrived at the hotel, he was assigned a room with sheets that, he claimed, had stains.

"I paid eighty dollars a night here and they gave me this suite because the first one they assigned me had sheets stained with milk and blood," he recounted. According to his testimony, after complaining, he managed to get moved to another room.

The guest also complained about the lack of food and alcoholic beverages. He even resorted to humor to describe the presence of insects in the facilities: "The national bird around here is the fly," he remarked ironically.

Outraged by what he deemed a service far below the price paid, he ended up issuing a warning to anyone considering booking a stay at the establishment.

"Don't spend your money here," he stated, before assuring that the facilities were in very poor condition and questioning the relationship between the price and the quality of the accommodation.

The establishment was inaugurated in January 2024 as a five-star resort, featuring 401 rooms, seven restaurants, and seven bars, which is a very different offering from the experience described by the complainant.

The hotel is also featured in the traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, where users have shared complaints about interruptions in water and electricity supply, room cleanliness, and the availability of food and beverages.

The situation of the establishment occurs during a period of change for the Cuban hotel sector. In July 2026, CiberCuba reported on Meliá's exit from hotel management in Cuba, after reports of changes in the operations of several companies linked to U.S. sanctions.

Meanwhile, Cuban authorities have continued to promote tourist facilities among residents on the island. In August, CiberCuba reported on the government's commitment to national tourism with offers in dollars, some starting at rates of $80 per night.

For BabyAndy, however, the experience was far from what he expected for that price. Among the dry faucets, complaints about cleanliness, and a lack of services, his visit ended up turning into a warning for other travelers.
