Eduardo Antonio is at it again! The Cuban singer, known as "El Divo de Placetas," did not go unnoticed on the blue carpet of the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he appeared in an extravagant white and silver outfit. But the most intriguing part of the night was the unusual story he shared about the inspiration for his attire: he claimed that Gianni Versace appeared to him in a dream!
The ceremony took place on Thursday, October 22, at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, broadcasted by Telemundo and Peacock, and the Cuban artist attended as a special guest of the network.
True to his style, Eduardo Antonio opted for a look that was hard to overlook: a large organza turban, a military-inspired jacket with silver double-breasted buttons, voluminous sleeves adorned with crystals, shiny white trousers, and striking sunglasses embellished with gemstones.
To complete the outfit, she carried a black handbag with mosaic details that, as she explained during her interview on the red carpet, was a piece several decades old. “It’s vintage. It’s from the 50s,” she proudly stated.
Behind such a display of glamour was a team of professionals whom the singer publicly thanked on his social media. As he shared, the wardrobe was the work of Rina Zamora, the hair styling was handled by Liu Penichet, and the jewelry was from Maite Jewelry.
However, the real surprise came when the Divo explained where he had drawn inspiration for such an outfit. Far from mentioning a runway or a fashion magazine, he revealed that it all started with a rather particular dream.
"And I dreamed that Gianni Versace told me: 'Dress like this, so that everyone looks at you, just like they look at Donatella and remember me,'" the artist recounted before the cameras.
The unexpected reference to the renowned Italian designer, murdered in 1997, and his sister Donatella Versace, one of the most recognized figures in international fashion, aligns with the extravagant and theatrical personality that characterizes the Cuban singer.
Eduardo Antonio also had heartfelt words for Cristian Castro, who received the Billboard Artistic Career Award that night.
"I am very happy and I believe that justice has been done for someone I love, named Cristian Castro, who deserves everything that is going to happen to him today. Cristian, I will always love you, my love," the Divo expressed while walking the red carpet.
On Instagram, the singer also showed off his spectacular outfit and thanked those who made his appearance at the gala possible. "Behind this look is talent, dedication, and a team that helps me shine on every red carpet," he wrote in one of his posts from the Billboard.
And it seems that the Divo de Placetas is determined to turn every carpet into his own runway. Just a few days earlier, he also grabbed attention during the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina 2026, where he surprised everyone with a daring black leather outfit and a cowboy hat.
This time, he swapped the black leather for white and crystals, but kept his love for extravagant looks intact. And you, what do you think of Eduardo Antonio's outfit for the 2026 Billboard Awards? Dazzling elegance or too much extravagance?
