The fourth edition of the Harry Potter Annual Convention arrives this Sunday at the Historic Center of Havana with free entry, as announced by the official Tribuna de La Habana.
The meeting begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Mural Painting Museum, located at Obispo Street 117-119, between Mercaderes and Oficios, just a few meters from the Plaza de Armas.
The event organizer since its first edition, Joel Arturo Salazar —known in the Cuban community of fans of the saga as SteamLord— explained to Tribuna that the day will combine the universe of the wizard created by J.K. Rowling with Havana's colonial heritage.
"Activities related to the saga of the character created by British author J.K. Rowling will take place, where participants can enjoy engaging games, knowledge contests, thematic classes, exhibitions, and immersive experiences, this time infused with the history, collections, heritage, and architecture of one of the oldest houses in the city, thanks to the support of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana," Salazar detailed.
The guiding theme of this edition is to create a bridge between the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Cuban mythology, taking advantage of the museum's setting, which occupies a building constructed in 1594 and is considered one of the oldest on Obispo Street.
The programming goes beyond costumes and spells from the saga: the event also includes a pet adoption fair and an exhibition of native animals from Cuba related to the island's myths and stories.
Admission is free for all audiences. As stated in the announcement, "entry will be free for all children, adolescents, young people, and their companions."
The convention, which is not tied to any film premiere or announcement from the international franchise, is an initiative by the Cuban community of fans of the saga.
The second edition, held in October 2024 at the Vitrina de Valonia —also in La Habana Vieja—, brought together around 500 people over two days, which illustrates the appeal the event has garnered in previous editions.
Meanwhile, the new Harry Potter television series produced by HBO/Max is set to premiere on December 25, 2026, although this is completely independent of this Havana event this Sunday.
