A Cuban resident in Houston, Texas, shared on TikTok everything she bought at Dollar Tree for about 60 dollars to send to her family in Cuba.
From medications and hygiene products to household items, candies, and chewing gum, the woman showcased one by one the products she would be taking to her mom, her mother-in-law, and her sister on the island.
The Cuban, identified on TikTok as @rosyg9105, explained that she decided to visit the popular chain of stores based on recommendations from other fellow countrymen, as their prices, ranging from $1.25 to $1.50 per item, allowed her to purchase a good quantity of products without spending too much.
"I went to Dollar Tree because I had been told that there were several items that could be sent to Cuba from Dollar Tree and that they are cheaper," she said while showing her purchases.
Among the products that attracted the most attention were the over-the-counter medications. The woman purchased two packs of six units of hydrocortisone cream, bottles of 55-capsule antacids, and several packs of triple antibiotic ointment.
"You all know that in Cuba, everything related to medications, creams, ointments, and things like that doesn't exist," he remarked, referring to the difficulties many families face in obtaining these products on the island.
The purchase also included deodorants for men and women, aloe vera soaps, intimate hygiene products, earplugs, nail glue that does not require a lamp, and aromatic eucalyptus tablets for the bath.
One of the items he decided to buy in larger quantities was soap, aware of how difficult it can be to find it in Cuba. "Since I know that soap is in short supply now, I went ahead and bought another package," he explained.
But it wasn't just medications and hygiene products. The Cuban also took advantage of Dollar Tree's prices to buy compressed sponges, stainless steel cleaning cloths, kitchen wipes, adhesive air fresheners, and resealable bags.
And just as a package to Cuba wouldn’t be complete without some indulgences, she added hair accessories, coffee candies, and some bubblegum that brought back memories of her childhood.
"Do you remember these little candies that were so popular in Cuba? I mean, they're chewing gum," he said nostalgically while holding up the sweets.
The initiative reflects how many Cubans residing abroad take advantage of discount stores to send basic products to their families. The shortage of medications continues to be one of the main difficulties on the island. In August 2026, it was reported that only 30% of the essential medication supply was available in Cuba, a situation that forces numerous families to rely on the support of their loved ones abroad.
The experience of this Cuban woman is not an isolated case. In July, another Cuban woman showed everything she managed to buy at Dollar Tree for 113 dollars to send to the island. In April, another woman shared a purchase of 91 dollars for the same purpose.
Also in November 2025, a Cuban woman surprised everyone by showcasing the products she gathered for just 60 dollars from Walmart and Dollar Tree, demonstrating that these stores have become an alternative for those looking to support their family members without spending large sums of money.
After finishing her shopping, the protagonist expressed satisfaction with everything she had managed to get for about 60 dollars and recommended that others preparing packages for Cuba explore the store's options.
"The truth is that there are many very affordable things that I found to be excellent; it seemed like a great option to send to Cuba," she assured.
Additionally, he mentioned that he might share a second part of his purchases if the video receives enough reactions.
