The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday the voluntary recall of approximately 25,541 infant sensory swings from the Harkla brand in the United States, along with an additional 5,534 units sold in Canada, due to the ceiling hook potentially detaching from its plate and causing the child using it to fall.
According to the official notice from the CPSC, the agency recorded 29 reports of hook separation in the United States, with 14 documented injuries: two concussions, one broken arm, and multiple bumps and bruises.
The affected product is the blue compression sensory swing (Blue Compression Sensory Swing), identifiable by the codes SKU LS-COMP-1BLU or LS-COMP-1BLU-SW printed on the packaging.
Only models that include a ceiling hook mounting plate with four holes are included in the recall; swings with a two-hole hook do not have the same defect and are excluded from this alert.
The item was sold between March 2020 and December 2025 in specialty stores such as Sensory Tool House, Hammer & Jacks, and Loaded Sensory, as well as online through Amazon and Harkla's own website, at a price ranging from $100 to $130.
The design flaw lies in a welded connection that attaches the hook to the plate: with use, that weld can give way and cause the swing to suddenly drop with someone inside.
The CPSC urges an immediate suspension of the swing's use and to request the free repair kit offered by the company, with shipping included at no additional cost.
The kit includes a new two-hole mounting plate—made from a single piece of seamless stainless steel—carabiners, tether chain, and safety strap, as well as updated installation instructions.
To claim it, consumers must register on the official Harkla recall page, where they will complete an online form.
You can also contact the company by phone at 844-442-7552, available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, or by email at recall@harkla.co.
Harkla specified that the kits will begin to be dispatched in early November, with an estimated delivery time of about 10 days after completing the form.
Those who are unable to carry out the installation on their own have an additional option: the company has committed to covering the reasonable cost of a professional technician, as long as the arrangement is pre-approved by Harkla.
The original hook must be disposed of according to local waste or recycling regulations and should not be reused under any circumstances.
This recall was processed under the CPSC's Fast Track program, which allows voluntary recalls to be carried out within a maximum of 20 business days from the report, without the need for extensive prior technical review.
This is not the first safety notice of this kind in recent weeks: at the beginning of October, more than 110,000 swing seats from the brand PACEARTH sold on Amazon were recalled due to a similar risk of breakage and falling, with 30 reports and nine injuries recorded.
The federal law of the United States prohibits the sale of any product that is subject to a recall ordered by the CPSC or voluntarily coordinated with the agency, which means that businesses cannot continue to offer the affected units.
