Eduardo Antonio, the Cuban singer known as El Divo de Placetas, announced this Friday his official nomination for the Icon Miami 2026 Awards, an event that acknowledges artists, influencers, and content creators in Spanish for their impact on entertainment.
The artist announced it through two reels on his Instagram account, where he celebrated the news with his followers, who quickly praised him and predicted his success.
Alongside him, the Cuban creator of humorous content Amed Rodríguez, Abejas Memes, is also among the nominees for this edition of the awards in the same category "Favorites and Untameable."
The nomination comes just two days after Eduardo Antonio received the "Special Recognition for Latin Excellence" at the sixth edition of the Hispanic Celebrities Awards 2026, held at the EB Hotel Miami and organized by JBR Entertainment.
At that gala, the artist dedicated the award to his husband and producer Roy García, as well as to his late mother, and noted that it was his third prize in that competition.
2026 has been a year of high exposure for El Divo de Placetas: he participated in La Casa de los Famosos 6 on Telemundo, where he stayed for 77 days before leaving the program, and in 2025 he was recognized as an "LGBTQI+ Icon" for his visibility and contribution to that community.
For its part, Abejas Memes is an established figure within the Cuban community abroad, known for its humorous content that critically addresses the reality of the island.
The creator
The Ícono Awards Miami 2026 include categories for creators of various audience sizes, ranging from nano influencers to mega influencers with over a million followers, as well as specific categories for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, podcasts, and honors such as Woman of the Year or Influencer Actor or Actress.
Now the question is open for the Cuban community: who will take the title of favorite and indomitable at the Miami Icon Awards 2026?
