The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, stated that Donald Trump has done more for the safety of citizens and their families than any other president in his lifetime. The praise came on Sunday, November 1, during a Republican rally in Salina, Kansas, in the final stretch of the campaign for the legislative elections on November 3.

"The most important job of any president is to keep you and your families safe. And no president in my lifetime has done it better than the one we have now," Rubio stated to those in attendance.

The head of U.S. diplomacy stated that Trump works every day to protect families and the country. "Thanks to him being our president, the United States is stronger, you are safer, and our enemies are weaker around the world," he added.

External security also appeared in Trump's campaign messages that Sunday. At another rally held in Dubuque, Iowa, the president described the operation to capture Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela as "a one-day war" in which "no one died", despite the fatalities acknowledged by Cuban and Venezuelan authorities.

His brief statement was captured in a video shared by the Rapid Response 47 account on X. The transcript of the event also records his words. Rubio expressed his political support for Trump in this way, although he did not provide any figures or comparisons that would allow for an assessment of his claim regarding security compared to previous administrations.

Trump responds with praise and a joke

After expressing his gratitude for the intervention, Trump assured that Rubio was doing "a great job" and joked about firing him if his popularity continued to rise: "Marco, I’m sorry, you’re fired."

The president added that, in his opinion, Rubio will go down in history as "the best secretary of state" that the United States has ever had. He had already expressed a similar compliment in March, when he also jokingly remarked that he did not want Rubio to become "too popular."
