At 10:33 a.m., local time in Havana, begins this Saturday, November 7, 2026, with a day of widespread upward movement.
The US dollar is trading at 935 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal market, reflecting an increase of 7 pesos compared to the same time on the previous day when it was at 928 CUP. This rise is not an isolated case: seven days ago, the greenback was exchanged for 883 pesos, indicating an increase of 52 pesos in the last week.
In the monthly outlook, the exchange rate has gained 165 pesos from the 770 CUP recorded 30 days ago, although it is advisable to approach this comparison with caution, as it may partly reflect adjustments in the methodology of the index. The dollar continues to dictate the rhythm of the informal market in a context of structural currency shortages.
The euro is quoted at 1.001 Cuban pesos (CUP), a value that should be taken as indicative due to the limited volume of operations reported during this time frame. Nevertheless, the increase is evident: it rises by 1 peso compared to the previous session, when it was at 1.000 CUP.
In the last week, it has gained 38 pesos since the 963 CUP from seven days ago. Thirty days ago, it was trading at 861 pesos, although that comparison is subject to the same methodological caution noted for the dollar. The European currency reaches its highest level in the last 30 days and surpasses the dollar by 66 pesos, solidifying its dominant position in the Cuban parallel market.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The MLC is quoted at around 659 Cuban pesos (CUP), although this figure should be considered as merely indicative: the available data in this range is scarce and not very representative. Compared to the previous day, it has increased by 7 pesos.
The weekly evolution is striking: seven days ago it was exchanged at 547 pesos, which represents an increase of 112 pesos in a week, a rise of 20.5%. With no physical existence, its use is limited to the state-run businesses that accept it, restricting its circulation compared to cash currencies.
- Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 935 CUP.
- Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 1.001 CUP.
- Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 659 CUP.
The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III), set today at 800 CUP per dollar and 892 CUP per euro, remains well below the values that prevail in everyday practice in the informal currency market. The gap between the official price of the dollar and the informal one today exceeds 135 pesos; in the case of the euro, the difference approaches 110 pesos.
Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains far from that of the informal market and fails to meet the actual demand for foreign currency from the population. In the last month, the official dollar has risen from 698 to 800 CUP and the euro from 781 to 892 CUP, but these adjustments have not succeeded in narrowing the gap with the parallel market, which is advancing at a significantly faster pace.
In a scenario of sustained inflation, low state wages, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every fluctuation in the informal market directly impacts internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans. The accumulated rise of the dollar in recent weeks further exacerbates the decline in the purchasing power of those earning in Cuban pesos.
The Exchange Rate of CiberCuba is an index of the informal Cuban market created from the automated analysis of thousands of currency exchange posts in Telegram and Facebook groups. The calculation disregards atypical offers and spam messages, weighs each transaction according to its age, and consolidates a representative value that updates several times a day.
