The Cuban presenter and host Carlos Otero surprised his followers this Saturday by sharing a photograph from 1983 on Instagram, in which he appears with a thick, dark, wavy hairstyle, in stark contrast to his current image.
The image shows an Otero in his youth, around 25 years old, sporting a well-defined short beard, a beige jacket, and a dark shirt, with a direct and serious gaze at the camera.
The host himself accompanied the post with a humorous comment: "Come on, I really had hair!! Hahaha (1983)."
The joke has its history: Otero has publicly acknowledged that he lost his hair around the age of 50, long after that photo was taken.
The image also holds historical significance for those who follow his career: 1983 was the year when "Para bailar," the musical program that marked Otero's debut on Cuban television in 1978, concluded. He had been on the screen for five years as one of its nine hosts.
The post evoked affectionate reactions from its followers. One of them left a message that blends tenderness with philosophy: "As the years go by we change, as life goes on we learn, now you have no hair, but you are wiser."
Otero is one of the most beloved figures in Cuban television in exile. After reaching his peak popularity in the 1990s as the host of «Sabadazo», a program that reportedly achieved an 82% audience rating during the Special Period according to his own statements, he emigrated from Cuba in December 2007 with his family.
Already in Miami, he worked for 15 years at América TeVé presenting the show TN3, until he left the channel in May 2022.
Since then, he has hosted "La Hora de Carlos," a program that airs on Mondays and Thursdays on his YouTube channel, where he maintains a close and relaxed relationship with his community of followers.
