Eduardo Cáceres Manso, known as "Cachito," executive producer and historical figure behind the scenes at América TeVé, broke the silence regarding the controversy between Carlos Otero and Carlucho in an interview on the program "La Casa de Maka," hosted by Maka (María Karla Rivero Veloz).
Cachito, who for years served as the executive producer of flagship programs for the TN3 network, provided his perspective on the origins of the conflict between both presenters and revealed previously unknown details about how Carlucho was the mastermind behind Carlos Otero's arrival in Miami.
According to Cachito, the conflict between Otero and Carlucho does not have a specific origin: "There wasn't a singular event that caused their dispute. There were many misunderstandings, but no specific incident worth sitting down to discuss."
The producer revealed that it was Carlucho who came up with the idea of bringing Otero to Miami when Omar Romay, the owner of Channel 41, was looking for substitutes for his programming.
"Romay tells me that we need to find the substitutes... it was Carlucho who said let's bring him in. The idea came from Carlucho."
Cachito explained that he made the first call to Otero — whose phone number was provided by Ernesto Pino Mónico — but it was Carlucho who flew to Mexico, negotiated the deals with him, and then traveled to Canada to help him cross the border with his family.
He also clarified that Romay was surprised that Carlucho did not charge a commission for managing that contract.
"Romay didn't understand why Carlucho hadn't taken a commission… Until I told him, he didn't take anything because that's how we Cubans are," said Cachito.
The controversy erupted in April 2026 when Carlos Otero stated on "Esto no es un Podcast" that he would never work with Carlucho again, attributing the rift to professional jealousy.
Carlucho responded from Madrid on April 28 recalling that it was he who helped Otero get to the United States with a contract worth a million dollars and a car as a gift.
The escalation reached its peak on May 4th, when Carlucho published accusations regarding alleged ties between Otero and the Cuban regime, including remarks about a photograph featuring a four-star cap associated with Raúl Castro. That same day, Otero admitted to having signed a document from the Cuban State Security.
Beyond the controversy, the interview had a deeply emotional tone, and Carlucho was invited, albeit via video. He reminisced about his time alongside Cachito on the show "La Cosa Nostra" and dedicated words that encapsulated years of both professional and personal connection.
"Eduardo Cáceres Manso is the father I would have wanted to have, but I'm lucky because he is also the father I have."
Carlucho highlighted the influence of his producer friend on his development as a presenter. "I learned a lot from Cachito. I learned about philosophy and had in my hands literature that I never thought I would have in my life," he said. He also revealed that he keeps some of his writings that could be published someday.
Cachito, for his part, described Carlucho with equal fondness. "He's a very special guy. He's one of the fastest people I've ever known. Whatever you tell him, he reacts to it, multiplies it, and benefits from it immediately."
He also emphasized his loyalty: "Very faithful as a man, as a friend... You can always count on him, and I have relied on him in very difficult circumstances," Cachito said.
