Roast pork leg is one of the typical Cuban dishes, whether for birthdays, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, or other celebrations. To prepare it, you need time and dedication. We suggest that readers marinate the meat the night before roasting. This way, you will achieve a more intense flavor. This recipe for roasted pig leg is perfect for family holiday gatherings. Ingredients:
  • 1 pork leg (approximately 6 pounds)
  • 1 head of garlic
  • 3/4 cup of sour orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon of oregano
  • 2 teaspoons of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 1 pound of onions
Instructions:

Clean the pork leg. You can prick it with a knife in several places so that the marinade juices penetrate the meat. Although this step is not mandatory, especially if you prepare it the night before.

Crush the garlic, add salt, oregano, cumin, pepper, and the juice of sour oranges. Rub the leg well with this marinade. Cover it with the onions cut into rings and let it rest for at least 12 hours.

Roast Pork Leg

Cook it at 325ºF (160ºC) for about 4 hours. Remember that each oven has its own characteristics. To prevent the meat from drying out, you should baste the pork leg with its own juices. Do this procedure several times.
