A group of 16 Cubans, including two minors, who were in a house washed by fear human traffickers in the Mexican state of Coahuila, were detained this Tuesday by the police and placed at the disposal of the National Migration Institute (INM).
The house, located in the Haciendas II neighborhood in the Ramos Arizpe municipality of that Mexican state, had been rented by the so-called "polleros", and the neighbors said they had seen on previous occasions a van (truck) with people entering the place, according to a local newspaper.
The home was used as a resting place for immigrants and, thanks to citizen reports made through WhatsApp security groups, it was dismantled by members of the Municipal Police.
According to the note, the arrest of the Cubans occurred around 10:30 am on Tuesday. The place was in precarious conditions, full of garbage and the migrants slept on the floor. However, the report does not indicate whether the people were there against their will.
According to others digital mediaAfter their arrest, the immigrants were taken to Public Security facilities to undergo a medical evaluation, before being transferred to the INM in Saltillo, capital of Coahuila, in order to determine their legal status.
This same Tuesday, another group of 70 immigrants, Cubans and other nationalities, were found in the machine room and water well of a hotel in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, and detained by the police.
Detention operations and deportations of immigrants from Mexico have increased in 2022.
In February of this year, The irregular entry of Cubans to the United States from Mexico set a record, when 16,550 people crossed the border between both countries, the largest amount for a month in more than two decades.
Likewise, on March 28, The number of Cubans detained at the US border set a record for a single day. According to the Border Patrol, a total of 1,500 Cubans were detained that Monday at the border crossings.
