The poor Internet connection in Cuba is something that exasperates users, who pay high sums to the company ETECSA for a service that, far from improving, is getting worse and worse.
"What evil did we do in our previous life to deserve ETECSA?" he asked in Facebook the artist and political activist Manuel de la Cruz.
In recent days, social networks have been filled with complaints from Internet users who suffer from the poor work of the state company when trying to connect to the network of networks.
"The connection is so bad in Cuba that I wonder why the hell ETECSA sells services for? Don't offer more recharges for the crappy service they provide," demanded user Patricia Montse Serrat.
Many try to communicate using airplane mode, a technique to try to recover the connection, but even that doesn't work.
"Put on airplane mode, remove airplane mode. Activate the VPN, deactivate the VPN; activate the other VPN and remove and activate airplane mode. That's it, so I have a connection for the next 15 minutes. Then repeat the same steps to see if it comes back the connection because everything changes," described the tweeter identified as davidholamigente.
"I've put airplane mode on that phone so much that just now a stewardess came out and told me: 'Dad, if you keep going I'm going to turn it down...'," joked the comedian El Habanero.
The Cuban writer, photographer and independent journalist Ariel Maceo Téllez reported on Thursday that he had been without a mobile data connection since 3:00 pm.
"Yes, I have a signal but nothing. I put airplane mode on and off airplane mode but it doesn't work. Do you know what else doesn't work? Socialism," he said on his Twitter.
For his part, journalist Junior Hernández Castro even dedicated a poem to ETECSA, and stated that he is thinking about whether there will be a connection at Pico Turquino.
"I don't know whether to get up on the roof anymore. Or if in the end it is better to swallow dry and give up. I'm bored of going from the living room to the kitchen. And the filthy connection...! I don't continue anymore, I get upset! I swear to you, gentleman. ETECSA ruins my health!
I can't get 3G, no matter how hard I try. Not an H+, I'm not lying to you. And he asked me why. There is no LTE, and if it exists, it does not download. Statuses no longer load, audio is never sent. And ETECSA, crazy and losing, announcing a recharge.
I use airplane mode so much that I already look like a tourist, and I move around the runway in search of a connection. I restart, I return to action, but the signal repels me. And they still say on TV that a cable is being installed. ETECSA is moving forward. It moves forward... and that hurts us".
Designer Carlos David Fuentes suggested changing the company's logo for a new one, which reflects the feelings of many Cubans.
"Logo proposal for ETECSA, the best telecommunications company in Cuba," he ironized.
About two weeks ago the state telecommunications monopoly announced a affectation in its services in three provinces, due to maintenance work on the 3G network, which would last several days.
"While these technical actions are being carried out, the operation of the services may be affected, so the work will be carried out during times of lower voice and data traffic," the note states.
The announcement filled users with indignation, who reminded the company that its service has difficulties all year round.
"They say these days, hahaha, I haven't known what a decent connection is for months," one replied.
"Every time they do maintenance the connection gets worse. From putting on airplane mode so much my phone thinks I'm gone and is asking me for recharges," said another.
"I thought they worked on the network 24 hours a day...", ironically a third.
"Has anyone else had the 5G option activated in Cuba with the ios16.4 update," user CubaGeek recently asked on his Twitter account.
What do you think?
