The Cuban Telecommunications Company, ETECSA, announced that its services would be affected in three provinces during the first hours of this Saturday, due to maintenance work that will continue in the coming days.
The telecommunications monopoly explained that from 00:00 to 6:00 am, work will be done on the 3G network in the province of Havana and in some areas of Artemisa and Mayabeque.
"While these technical actions are being carried out, the operation of the services may be affected, so the work will be carried out during times of lower voice and data traffic," the company states. use.
ETECSA added that the work on the telecommunications networks is part of the tasks planned to guarantee the availability of the services, and that during the execution of the technical actions they may be affected.
"In the following days it will continue in different regions of the country," warned the entity, which apologized for any inconvenience this may cause.
The announcement filled users with indignation, who reminded the company that the service always has difficulties. Many people associated ETECSA's maintenance plan with the intentions to limit communications during the game that the Cuban team will play in the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic, this Sunday.
"They don't want Cuba to see the demonstrations against the Castro regime that will take place during the baseball game in Miami. This is in your face," said democracy activist Ismary Bacallao.

Last week, ETECSA announced maintenance on the Nauta platform for an entire night, which would affect some services and prevent recharging Nauta accounts and paying the Nauta Hogar fee.
The company, which did not clarify the exact time when the damage would begin or when the maintenance would end, assured that the work was "necessary and essential to improve the performance of this service."
At the end of February, users reported a general drop in voice call service in different provinces.
Several Internet users on social networks indicated that they could not call or receive calls, although access to the Internet and SMS messaging service was maintained.
The interruption was confirmed hours later by ETECSA, in an information note where it explained that "the failure of a card that caused instability in the operation of a piece of equipment involved in the processing of this service" had caused random effects on making or receiving calls.
