They capture a coyote in Guatemala that was transporting migrants from Cuba and Venezuela

The individual was surprised by the police when he was transporting six people of Venezuelan nationality and seven of Cuban nationality, who had entered Guatemala illegally.

Guatemalan authorities detained an alleged coyote who was transporting 13 migrants from Cuba and Venezuela.

The arrest occurred during a security and identification operation of people, at kilometer 203 of route CA2. This is in the jurisdiction of Colomba Costa Cuca, Quetzaltenango.

The Guatemalan police indicated, in acase report, that the alleged coyote is 28-year-old Jhonny “N”. "He was surprised when he was transporting six people of Venezuelan nationality in a vehicle andseven of Cuban nationality, who entered the country irregularly".

When the arrest became known, two other citizens appeared at the scene, Armando "N", 29 years old, and Álvaro, 32 years old, who, according to the police, tried to bribe the law enforcement officers.

"They tried to bribe the agents with $4,610 to keep the vehicle moving, for which they were also captured. Three “fangs” and a bag of cocaine were also seized from them,” the police say.

The three detainees were brought before a court and the 13 migrants were transferred to a headquarters of the Guatemalan Migration Institute for the corresponding procedures.

At the beginning of March theGuatemalan police seized a boat which was used to illegally transport Cuban immigrants in that country.

It was a shark boat valued at 5,000 quetzales. On March 21, 2022, it was used to illegally transport Cubans and Hondurans, from the municipal dock of the Río Dulce village, Livingston, Izabal.

They also seized a marine engine worth 95 thousand quetzales and a Toyota brand vehicle, in the municipality of San Juan Olintepeque, Quetzaltenango.
