At loanDepot Park in Miami, a new record for a Caribbean Series game was set, with 35,972 fans in attendance, surpassing the previous mark of 35,691 set during last year's event at the Estadio Monumental Simón Bolívar during the game between Tigres del Licey and Leones del Caracas.

On this occasion, the contenders were also Licey versus Criollos de Caguas, becoming the second most attended game at the Miami facility, surpassed only by the matchup between the national teams of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic during the last World Baseball Classic.

According to ESPN data, which gives a larger context to this new record set on Saturday night during the 2023 Major League Baseball season, "the highest attendance for a Miami Marlins game, the team that owns the stadium, was 35,042 fans on August 13 when the New York Yankees visited."

The repercussions of the record have quickly become evident on social media.

The representative team of the Dominican Republic has caught the attention of fans in Miami, despite the city being neutral for the event. The players from Licey have contributed to the increase in ticket sales for the tournament.

In the result from Saturday, the Dominicans triumphed over their Puerto Rican rivals 5-2, with 12 hits, including a home run from second baseman Robinson Canó. The team from the Island of Enchantment managed seven hits in the game.

So far, Panama, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic remain the leaders in the tournament standings, which will continue until next Friday, February 9.
