Mothers show concern about the increase in violence and crime in Cuba

Cuban mothers shared their concerns about the increase in violence and the delinquency, and exchanged testimonies that illustrate the growing atmosphere of insecurity that exists in the country.

“Concerned with what today's youth are experiencing,” a mother posted on social networks what happened to his son when he attended the Havana Book Fair this weekend with his girlfriend and two friends.

“It was around six when they took the return bus. But, when they entered the tunnel, a gang that was on the bus began to threaten everyone, pulling out knives and hitting", said the woman in the Facebook group 'Cuban mothers for a better world'.

Her publication received more than 120 comments from other mothers and women who share concern about the wave of violence that is growing in the country.

One of the mothers who commented said that she had attended the Book Fair “with my two-year-old daughter and my husband.” As she said, she nervously noted “the number of young people there were [behaving] with handsomeness and lack of respect.”

“But above all I noticed how boyfriends mistreated their girlfriends and they accepted it and laughed as if it were normal. In short, a very dark future is coming,” the woman added regretfully.

In addition to the daily worries about milk, food, hygiene products and other basic necessities, Cuban mothers now also have to deal with the anxiety caused by the increase in insecurity in the country and the violence to which they are exposed. their children.

In the middle of the month, an Internet user shared the images captured by a surveillance camera in which they were recorded two robberies committed in less than a month on the same block from the Diez de Octubre municipality, in Havana.

Around the same time, the Holguín provincial prosecutor's office requested 24 years in prison for men who last year attacked Cuban teenager Lester Domínguez with a machete to steal his cell phone, causing serious injuries with risk to his life and the suffering of his family members.
