A public transport bus was stoned shortly before 11 pm this Tuesday while it was traveling through the municipalityHavana Center, as reported on its social networks by the Provincial Transportation Company of the capital.
The entityaccurate that the vandalism took place at 10:40 p.m. in Prado between Genios and Cárcel against bus 8412, whichcovered route A58, which begins its journey in Boyeros and Bruzón (Plaza de la Revolución) and concludes its journey in the Bahía district (Eastern Havana).
Photos released by the state transportation company showed that the stones apparently hit the front area, where the driver sits.
The images shared show thatThe window glass did not break although it was completely cracked, which constitutes a danger to traffic.
The source indicated that "an automotive safety technician and senior guard from the Company" went to the scene of the incident to evaluate what happened and that PNR authorities will investigate the incident.
"The union of the strength of the people and the PNR is vital to reduce events like these, which conspire with the transportation recovery program that the company has been carrying out and that affect passenger transportation in the capital," concluded the official information.
In the comments section of the publication, several Internet users criticized this and other similar acts of vandalism that have occurred in recent months that, in addition to putting people's lives at risk, threaten the very scarce public transportation in the capital.
It must be taken into account that at the beginning of March, Yunier de la Rosa Hernández, general director of Transportation of Havana, during a review by the Ministry of Transportation (MITRANS), described the transportation scenario in Havana as “complex” and detailed that more of the total vehicle were stopped for various reasons. At that moment252 pieces of equipment were circulating and 309 were out of operation.
Given such figures, the news of a stoned bus in Havana is a cause for indignation because of what it represents in an already critical panorama of public transportation in the capital.
"I don't understand this level of stupidity. The first affected is the population, including those who do such atrocities, their families and other people."Anyone can have freedom of thought and expression, but disagreements are never expressed against their own personal benefit and that of their peers," noted a commentator in the aforementioned publication.
"Perhaps that same bus, perhaps the only one on the line, would have served them to transport a sick family member to the hospital or perhaps themselves due to pain or an illness that could even be fatal," added the same person.
"I would judge these types of acts of vandalism, regardless of the age of the person committing it, not as an act of vandalism, or mistreatment of social property, but as an act of terrorism due to the consequences that it can have on the community." life of the people, both in their physical and psychological integrity. No warm cloths, and the sanction, according to the consequences that this act has on people, whether they are physically affected or not, but I repeat, always as an act of terrorism," wrote another Internet user.
In recent months Similar complaints are recurrent, both from public transport drivers and private vehicle drivers. In the case of the latter, such events reveal the aggressors' desire to steal.
They are also frequent not only in different places in Havana, but also on stretches of highways, as well as in other provinces.
In December of last year, the same entity reported that a bus that covered the P16 route was stoned on San Lázaro and Marqués González streets, also in Central Havana.
In that case theVehicle had severe damage to the glass of two windows., although there were no injuries because there were no passengers on board.
Also in December, a similar incident was reported on route P10, which runs from Playa to La Víbora. Thenthe vehicle was stoned by a group of young people after the bus did not stop at one of the corresponding stops.
In July 2023, the windshield of a state taxi known as "gazelles" was shattered afterbeing stoned at night from the Alamar bridge, in Eastern Havana.
