A Yutong bus crashed into an electrical pole this Wednesday, causing a power outage that left five areas of Alamar without electricity, according to reports on social media.
"Now on the hill of Alamar. I don't know details. It is still there and part of Alamar is without power because of that," reported a user from the Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones'.
Images shared through this social network showed the bus from the Chinese manufacturer crashed against a concrete pole, apparently one with high voltage wires.
"Since then there has been no electricity in Alamar, despite the fact that before the outage they spent the day turning it off and on," a user complained. "Not even in Cojímar," said another.
The bus, a Yutong with license plate B234888, was being used to transport "the crews of the national trains," according to an internet user in the comments.
“There were only material damages and there were no physical injuries, neither for him nor for the people on the bus,” said the commentator, who claimed to know the driver and to have worked at the same company.
"The crash with the pole affected areas from 6 to 11 [of Alamar] and part of Cojímar. This was published on Telegram by the electric company. It caused outages," noted another user.
A supposed witness of the accident described how it happened: "I was coming down the hill with wet pavement. Somehow, it skidded in a fan-like turn and ended up hitting the pole. If it hadn't collided with it, it would have flipped over."
Another supposed witness stated that he was about to be a victim of the accident: “I thought he was making a ‘U’ turn when he came barreling towards me. I managed to escape by swerving into the other lane. Luckily, there was no one coming, but I did see a car that had been painted 15 days ago. But really, nothing happened. I got away.”
"It was in front of me. What a sad moment for the driver and the passengers, who were all women," said another internet user who claimed to have witnessed the moment of the accident.
“Nothing happened to anyone, neither to the driver nor to those who were on the bus. Thank God it's just material damage. And for those who are only worried about electricity, go complain at Plaza de la Revolución, since so far they have suffered blackouts and have kept quiet,” commented another internet user.
