A Cuban mother identified as Yaquelin Salas Hernández made an urgent call on social media after her daughter lost her cell phone this Tuesday in Havana, offering a reward of 40 dollars to anyone who returns it, "no questions asked."
According to what was explained in a group on Facebook "Buying and Selling Cheap Cell Phones in Havana," the incident occurred after lunching at the Meliá Habana hotel. Upon reaching their destination, they realized that the phone was no longer there.
"I called the hotel, and they said she didn't leave it there... what's strange is that I don't remember her taking it in the taxi back," she wrote.
The device is a black Samsung Galaxy A13, with a purple astronaut cover. The user reported that she called the number 11 times without a response, and by the twelfth call, the phone was already turned off. Yaquelin went to the police station and reported the loss/theft.
The phone has been blocked and blacklisted, so it is no longer useful except for parts, but it contains valuable personal information and photos.
"I will give 40 dollars to anyone who returns it and says they found it. I won’t ask any questions," he assured, leaving his contact number: 52922488.
Other cases of rewards
On Friday, June 13, a Cuban motorcyclist increased the reward for the return of his stolen motorcycle in Havana from 150,000 to 200,000 Cuban pesos.
The motorcycle, a Michuzuki NEW PRO electric model, was stolen on May 27 in front of the Super Cake building, at the intersection of Zanja and Belascoaín streets in Centro Habana.
At the beginning of the month, a family from Camajuaní, Villa Clara, urgently requested citizen assistance to locate a stolen motor from the early hours of June 4th, an incident that has left them feeling helpless and outraged due to the lack of effective response from local authorities.
According to the testimony sent to CiberCuba, the robbery occurred around 2:00 a.m., while the vehicle was locked and secured at the entrance of the house, with the owners inside.
After the incident, the police were called, who—according to reports—arrived two hours later. Although a complaint was filed, there had been no circulation or effective response up to that moment. The affected individuals offered $1,000 reward for information leading to the vehicle.
