The young man, originally from Bartolomé Masó in the province of Granma, died as a result of the serious injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred several months ago, during which he remained in a coma.

The official page shared images of the "military farewell ceremony" where "comrades in arms, friends, and family paid their final tribute."

"His funeral was marked by three volleys of AKM rifle shots, a final and heartfelt farewell to a brother in uniform who left too soon. May he rest in peace. His values, dedication, and sacrifice will always remain in our memory," concludes the post from the regime's army.

In August, the same page reported on the death of an FAR officer who passed away after spending several days hospitalized following a traffic accident in Santiago de Cuba.

The highest rankYorlai Tito Rengifo, assigned to the Tank Division, was injured in a traffic accident that occurred on an unspecified date, due to which he received medical attention at the Naval Hospital, where he later died.

It is not known if both deaths are related.

Other incidents involving military personnel

In a tragic accident that occurred last July, the driver of a military jeep lost control and crashed into a taxi on the 8 Vías, at the entrance to Havana. As a result of the collision, an foreign tourist and two young men serving in the military lost their lives. There was no official statement from the authorities regarding this incident.

military truck from the FAR was involved in another accident in Santiago de Cuba, after colliding with the entrance of a house in the Mariana de la Torre neighborhood. No casualties were reported. It was revealed that the military vehicle was on an emergency mission, presumably transporting an injured soldier to the Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital.
