Official part of the MINSAP for coronavirus in Cuba May 29

The official report of the Ministry of Public Health collects the data on the coronavirus in Cuba until midnight the previous day: 2,005 confirmed cases, 1,760 recovered and 82 deaths.

Cuba exceeded 2000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to data released this Friday by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Until midnight this Thursday,22 new people with COVID-19 for a total of 2005, of whichIn 1760 they were discharged, explained Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Epidemiology at MINSAP, inthe press conference from Havana.

The Government of Cuba has reported cases of coronavirus in the country since March and unfortunately there are more than 2,000 people82 died,figure that has been maintained since Sunday.

At the close of yesterday, May 28, 569 patients were admitted to hospitals for clinical epidemiological surveillance. Another 1,815 people are monitored in their homes, from Primary Health Care.

For COVID-19, 1,363 samples were studied, resulting in 22 positive samples. The country accumulates 101,108 samples carried out and 2,005 positive (2.0%). Therefore, at the end of yesterday, 22 new cases were confirmed, for a total of 2,005 in the country.

The 22 confirmed cases were Cuban. Of them, 18 (81.8%) were contacts of confirmed cases and in four (18.2%) the source of infection was not specified.

Of the 22 diagnosed cases, 13 (59.1%) were women and nine (40.9%) were men. The most affected age groups were those under 40 years of age, followed by those between 40 and 60 years of age with nine cases each (40.9% respectively). 72.7% (16) of the positive cases were asymptomatic.

Matanzas

  • 27-year-old Cuban citizen, resident in the Jagüey Grande municipality, Matanzas province. Contact of previously confirmed case. 20 contacts remain under surveillance.

Of the 2,005 patients diagnosed with the disease, 161 remain confirmed hospitalized and of them, 158 (98.1%) have a stable clinical evolution. There are 82 deaths (none on the day), two evacuated and 1,760 recovered patients (87.4%) (26 discharged yesterday). Three patients are reported in serious condition.

Patients reported in serious condition:

  • Cuban citizen, 52 years old, from the Habana del Este Municipality. History of high blood pressure, HIV positive with 20 years of evolution, bronchial asthma. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit due to worsening of his clinical condition. It started with a dry cough, shortness of breath and fever. He is hemodynamically stable. Chest X-ray with inflammatory lesions in both lung fields predominantly in the lower 2/3 of the left lung and the middle lobe of the right lung. He is reported in serious condition.
  • 87-year-old Cuban citizen, from the Cerro municipality. History of Ischemic Heart Disease. He began with shortness of breath and sinus bradycardia, so it was decided to move to Intensive Care. He is hemodynamically stable. Electrocardiogram with complete left bundle branch block and first degree Atrial Ventricular Block. Chest X-ray with areolar images suggestive of bronchiectasis and discrete inflammatory lesions at the right base. He is reported in serious condition.
  • 84-year-old Cuban citizen. It comes from the Habana Vieja municipality. History of Arterial Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus and Ischemic Heart Disease. He began with vomiting, diarrhea and signs of dehydration, which is why he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. He has diarrhea and is hemodynamically stable. He is reported in serious condition.

As of May 28, 185 countries with cases of COVID-19 are reported, with 5 million 656 thousand 615 confirmed cases (+ 100 thousand 907) and 355 thousand 355 deaths (+ 5 thousand 143) with a fatality rate of 6.28% ( -0.02).

In the region of the Americas, 2 million 630 thousand 856 confirmed cases (+ 58 thousand 882) are reported, 46.51% of the total cases reported in the world, with 152 thousand 598 deaths (+ 3 thousand 575) for a fatality of 5.80% (+0.01).
