Young Ukrainian accused in Florida of murdering his adoptive parents

Police in North Port, Florida, arrested the citizenDima Tower and keeps him prisoner in the Sarasota County Jail where he faces charges oftwo counts of murder.

The 22-year-old young man is a native of Ukraine and was adopted in that country when he was 14 years old, by an American couple residing in Florida.Robbie Tower (49 years old) andJennifer Tower (51 years).

Dima is accused of stabbing his adoptive parents in the home where they lived in North Port.

The couple could not have biological children and adopted Dima from an orphanage in Ukraine as a teenager. They were active in their Christian church and had gone on mission trips before deciding to adopt the boy.

Dima's biological mother had died when he was a child and his father abandoned him in an orphanage.

The young man's uncle, Warren Rines, told theAmerican press that at the time of being adopted Dima had bruises on his body from his stay in the orphanage where he had traumatic experiences.

On the night of August 31, 2023, police responded to a disturbance call at the family's home. The scene they encountered was terrifying.

The agents discoveredTower couple lying face down on the floor, covered in blood. The crime scene suggested that the attack may have spread through several rooms of the house.

It was a neighbor who called 911 after Dima's adoptive mother knocked on their door looking for help and disappeared, leaving trails of blood on the front steps of the house.

When the police arrived at the scene of the crime, they saw a person escaping in a vehicle registered in the name of the alleged murderer. They began a chase that took about seven hours and ended when Dima had to stop in Venice, Florida.

This was not the first episode of violence carried out by Dima with his family. About three years ago,Robbie Tower had to call the police after his adopted son attacked him, leaving him with a black eye.

At that time Dima went to live with his relatives.Jennifer Tower for a time, but the couple eventually forgave him and welcomed him back into their home.

The motivation behind the murder has not yet been publicly revealed by the police who keep the investigation of this case open.

Dima's arraignment is scheduled for November 3. The community is shocked by this tragedy, remembering the couple as "two really good, caring people" who did everything they could to help the young man overcome his life stories.
