The United States Coast Guard (USCG) repatriated this Tuesday 23 Cuban rafters intercepted near the coast of Florida.

The return of the migrants to the Cuban authorities occurred this Tuesday, after the USCG stopped a improvised boat 47 miles northeast of Matanzas.

The message, published on Twitter with several images of the interdiction, ensures that the US maritime borders are not open.

The frequent arrival of Cuban rafters to the coasts of Florida is part of the migration crisis that the island has faced since 2021 and that has led thousands of people to enroll in dangerous journeys by sea and land.

Last week it emerged that at least 12,762 Cubans entered in August to the United States, according to figures revealed this Friday by the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The report from that entity that updated the August figures indicates that at least 6,760 immigrants entered the country by land and 5,937 by sea.
