Residents in Las Tunas are warning of a cable that criminals extend on a well-known avenue in the city to attack vehicles that circulate.

According to the independent mediaCuba Time, users on WhatsApp have warned these days about the placement of a cable at a point on 2 de Diciembre Avenue, from one side of the road to the other, near the Ernesto Guevara hospital, in an area without public lighting.

"It usually happens between 8:00 and 10:00 at night," reported a source who asked to remain anonymous.

The objective of this action is to cause cyclists and drivers of motorbikes and motorcycles to fall.

In addition to the darkness, around the area there are bushes that the assailants use to hide.

The note specifies that robberies and assaults have increased considerably in Las Tunas in recent years.Newspaper 26 reported a 44.6 percent increase in cases compared to 2022.

About two weeks ago, Cubans in Holguín warned of the same strategy that criminals are using to assault motorcycle and car drivers.

"Look at how crime is. This is in Holguín," Pedro Domínguez, a private taxi driver, warned on Facebook, who shared a photo taken at night in which a street was seen with sticks lying and crossed from one side to the other.

Several Internet users commented indignantly at the danger that this practice represents for drivers, another example of the rise of crime in Cuba and the impunity enjoyed by criminals.

"For the police, don't wait, the whole country is like this and they have nothing. Now, have someone paint a little sign so you can see," commented a motorist.

This week severalCuban motorists agreed that they are afraid to go out at night due to the increase in crime, which has already claimed the lives of several of them who have been assaulted to steal their means of transportation.

Drivers interviewed by the independent portalCubaNet They reported recent violent assaults that make them reconsider whether it is feasible to drive at night or in lonely places, and one of them even stated that after 7:00 pm he does not go out on his motorcycle, he prefers to take a car, even though it costs him much more.

"We are afraid that they will take our motorcycle at a traffic light. The issue is not that they take it away from us. The problem is that they take your motorcycle and stab you, they hit you with a machete, and they are not one, they are a bunch" , declared one.
