Record attendance at a Caribbean Series game set in Miami

This record surpasses the mark set in the last edition, in Caracas.

In itloanDepot Park of the city of Miami, a new record was established for a game in the Caribbean Series, as 35,972 fans gathered in the sports facility, which leaves behind the mark set in the last edition of the event when 35,691 attendees were counted at the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium, in the match between Tigres del Licey and Leones del Caracas.

On this occasion the contenders were also those of Licey versus Criollos de Caguas, becoming thesecond game with the most attendance at the Miami facility, only surpassed by the confrontation between the teams of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic in the pastWorld Baseball Classic.

According to data fromESPN, which give a greater dimension to this new mark established this Saturday night, during the 2023 Major League season, “the highest attendance for a game ofMiami Marlins, the team that owns the stadium, was 35,042 fans, on August 13 whenNew York Yankees visited the team.”

The repercussions for the record have not been long in coming on social networks.

The representative team of the Dominican Republic has attracted the attention of Miami fans, despite this being a neutral city for the event. Those from Licey have helped increase ticket sales in the tournament.

In itresult of this saturday The Dominicans dominated their rivals from Puerto Rico 5-2, with 12hits, including a home run by second baseman Robinson Canó. Those from the Isla del Encanto had seven hits in the game.

So far, Panama, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic remain leaders in the tournament standings. which will run until next Friday, February 9.
