Relatives of murdered young man protest in front of the police unit in Santiago de Cuba

The young man was the father of two babies.

Relatives of young Cuban Guillermo Alexnay Céspedes Chacón, 25 years old, who was murdered at dawn on Monday in Santiago de Cuba, protested this Friday in front of the province's Police Unit to demand justice.

Independent Cuban reporter Yosmany Mayeta Labrada published images of the protest on his Facebook page, which forced officers to leave the station, known as Second Unit "El Palacete."

"They demand justice after the vile murder of his relative, who was fatally stabbed in the vicinity of the Orestes Acosta Recreation Center, Ciroa," the reporter explained.

The young man was fatally stabbed at a party in a center called “El Ciroa.” He lived in the Julio Palacios quarters, in the José Martí neighborhood of Santiago, and was the father of two children under one year old.

The family demands that the murderer, who has been identified as Marcos Rene Vera, and resides in the Los Pinos neighborhood, be arrested and tried.

The alleged perpetrator of the crime has been a fugitive since the incident.

Attended the funeral of Céspedes Chacón more than 300 outraged people due to the wave of crime in the territory, and they dismissed the young man with cries of "Homeland and Life" in the Santa Ifigenia cemetery.

The family reported a large police presence and black berets at the funeral.

The victim received a stab wound in the stomach and was taken to the Saturnino Lora hospital, where he was declared deceased.

Cuban authorities have admitted the growing crime in Santiago de Cuba, where several young people have been murdered in recent weeks.
