Cubans will once again suffer this Monday another day of severe blackouts, after a weekend with massive electricity outages, with impacts in the order of more than 1,120 MW.

The week is starting badly after a Sunday in which the service was affected due to a lack of capacity during the 24 hours, and could not be restored this morning. According to the Electrical Union (UNE), the maximum impact was 1120 MW at 8:10 pm, coinciding with peak hour.

This Monday, the availability of the National Electroenergy System (SEN) at 7:00 am was 1840 MW and the demand was 2450 MW. An impact on daytime hours of 1100 MW is estimated.

For the hours of greatest consumption, an availability of 1975 MW and a maximum demand of 3200 MW is expected, for a deficit of 1225 MW. If the expected conditions continue, an impact of 1,295 MW is forecast.

During that time, three engines must enter the Melones pond with 50 MW and other distributed generation engines that are awaiting maintenance and their use is authorized with 85 MW.

At this time, two units of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Felton thermoelectric plants are out of service due to breakdowns, in addition to three blocks of the Mariel, Nuevitas and Guiteras CTE that are under maintenance.

The limitations on thermal generation are 304 MW.

"92 distributed generation plants and the Santiago de Cuba plant are out of service due to fuel for a total of 755 MW. There are 11 plants with low coverage (56 MW)," the UNE detailed in itspart.

The country is suffering the worst streak of blackouts since the beginning of the year, withelectricity outages that in provinces reach up to 16 hours a day or more (much higher than in the capital), a situation that is wearing down the patience of Cubans.

"Don't give any more explanations, don't put it any more"asked a user fed up with the informative notes published daily by the Unión Eléctrica.

"Exactly. It's not worth it"; "We are tired of so much talk, until when?"; "We continue to suffer without sleeping, eating or bathing. What they have with the provinces is abusive: up to 10 hours without electricity," said other Internet users.
