A young Cuban, living abroad, visited his hometown with the hope of reuniting with his friends and discovered that there is no one of his generation left in the community.
Daniel Luaces He is a video creator who usually posts on social networks. He has a large community on Instagram where he shares his photos and audiovisual works.
recently went toCuba and he confessed that he felt sad to see that his friends were not there. The streets look empty, like an abandoned town.
"Ashethe broken heart when arriving at the neighborhood and not meeting anyone, absolutely no one," he said in his publication. He did not detail which neighborhood or city he lived in, but this is the daily reality throughout Cuba.
Since 2021, the Cuban people are experiencing one of the largest migration crises in their history. In February 2024 alone, a total of20,815 cases of Cuban migrants crossing the borders of the United States.
The aging population on the island is increasingly notable and looking to the future it is a problem that the country will have to face. The regime runs out of manpower and the phenomenon occurs rapidly. Young people leave to escape the scarcity, repression and miseries of communism.
