Cuba and Russia sign cooperation program against crime

The agreement was signed in Havana by the attorneys general of both countries.

The governments of Cuba and Russia, through the Prosecutor's Offices of both countries, signed a cooperation agreement on crime, as reported this Friday by the agencyWHICH.

The agreement includes, among other things, “legal assistance” in criminal cases and “the use of digital technologies.”, reported the Russian embassy in Cuba, reports the aforementioned agency.

The signing of the documents, which will last two years (until 2026) was by the Prosecutor General of Russia,Igor V. Krasnov, and its counterpart in Cuba,Yamila Pena.

“With joint efforts, we will make an important contribution to the realization of the course defined by Presidents Vladimir Putin and [Miguel] Díaz-Canel, in order to build a peaceful, secure and fair future for our citizens,” declared Krasnov, quoted byWHICH.

Precisely, the Russian attorney general was received by the Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel at the Palace of the Revolution.

“As a visit of deep significance, an expression of the excellent relations between the two governments and peoples,” the Cuban leader described the meeting, mentioned by the Presidency of Cuba in his profile on the social network X.

After that meeting, Krasnov,who arrived in Havana last Monday, stated that "after a hiatus of more than a decade, we have resumed cooperation between military prosecutors, and have signed a program of joint activities to share best practices in supervision and fighting crime," quotedRT.

In February, during a visit to Havana,Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, said "Cuba is our traditional partner, our most important ally in Latin America and the Caribbean. "We are satisfied with the very constructive and intense nature of the Russian-Cuban political dialogue at all levels."
