22-year-old political prisoner makes an attempt on his life in a prison in Camagüey

The event occurred after the regime recently announced the sentences against the protesters in Nuevitas in August 2022.

The Cuban political prisoner Fray Claro Valladares attempted on his life in a prison in Camagüey, after learning this week of the sentences imposed by the regime for the peaceful protests in the municipality of Nuevitas that occurred in August 2022.

This event occurred in the “Cerámica” prison in the province of Camagüey, according to what the Cuban activist reported on Facebook. Marcel Valdes.

“Fray, 22 years old, was unjustly sentenced to 10 years of deprivation of liberty, that was the reason that led him to make an attempt on his life,” Marcel mentioned in an extensive post where he also announced the sentences of others involved in the demonstrations.

- Mayelín Rodríguez Prado, was accused of continuous enemy propaganda and sedition: 15 years of deprivation of liberty

- Yennis Artola del Sol, accused of continuous enemy propaganda: 8 years of deprivation of liberty.

- José Armando Torrente Muñoz, accused of sedition, attack and resistance: 14 years of deprivation of liberty.

-Davier Leyva Velez, Keiler Velazquez Medina, Menkel of Jesus Menendez Vargas, Frank Alberto Carreon Suarez, Fray Pascual Claro Valladares and Lazarus Alexander Perez August, all accused of 10 years in prison for alleged sedition.

- Lisdan Cabrera Batista, was accused of sedition, along with other acts against State Security: 11 years of deprivation of liberty.

- Jimmy Jhonson Agosto and Ediolvis Marin Mora, accused of sedition and sabotage: 13 years of deprivation of liberty.

- Wilker Alvarez Ramirez, was accused of concealment: 4 years of deprivation of liberty.

Nuevitas was the scene of massive protests against the blackouts on the night of Thursday, August 18, 2022, what The Cuban regime responded with an act of revolutionary reaffirmation on Friday morning to contain the popular momentum.

However, during Friday night the residents in that town of Camagüey took to the streets again, after which they were repressed.

Videos on social networks show that the police unleashed a strong persecution against the participants in the peaceful protests, and in one you can see a young man who begins to ask for help after being summoned by the police. Was Fray Claro Valladares who asked for support from the local people in the face of institutional harassment.
