It is unknown the volume of the cargo that was scattered, nor if any of the product so in demand and currently in deficit could be recovered.

“Traffic is restored on the central highway near Jobabito in Las Tunas, after a spectacular accident involving a V8 truck from the Ministry of Agriculture, loaded with wheat flour,” he indicated in Facebook the user identified as Liberato Cimarrón.

According to their report of the event, witnesses to the accident stated that “the truck's rear tires came off on the driver's side, which caused it to overturn.” The cabin of the truck (with license plate B 223 975) was completely crushed. However, the report indicates that the driver did not suffer serious injuries.

Police officers and provincial authorities, as well as local officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, traveled to the scene. It is unknown the volume of the cargo that was scattered, nor if any of the product so in demand and currently in deficit could be recovered.

The poor condition of the roads, added to the lack of maintenance and shortage of spare parts for vehicles, affects the number of accidents that take place in Cuba.

In the midst of the acute shortage of wheat flour that the country suffers, with provinces that only guarantee pumpkin bread to children under 14 years of age, accidents like this are even more unfortunate.

In mid-February, a harrow carrying a container loaded with boxes of beer, drinks and other food products overturned in Camagüey. Images shared on social networks showed the container on the side of the road, with the cargo spread out over a meadow.

In November of last year, a group of Havana residents (including children) starred in a sad scene when a truck carrying flour dropped a considerable amount. and they started to pick it up from the road. The incident occurred on Sunday in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, before exiting onto the highway known as the Ocho Vías.

The truck that crashed this Tuesday is an identical model to the one that caused the recent death of a Guantanamo motorcyclist identified as David Pileta. The fatal traffic accident occurred when the motorist did not respect a 'Stop' sign and ended up being run over by the Soviet-made iron mass.
