Cuban missing in Holguín found dead

The Cuban was 63 years old and had been missing for four days.

A 63-year-old Cuban who was reported missing in Holguín was found dead behind the Vocational school in that city.

Evelio Rodríguez Cedeño He had been missing for four days, causing concern to his parents, who “are two very elderly people,” Ernesto Almaguer Díaz, who identifies himself as a friend of the victim, said in a Facebook post.

Almaguer himself was the one who updated on the man's death, mentioning that he had committed suicide and his body was found behind the Vocational.

“I will remember you as the friend you always were, with your playfulness, with your "playfulness", I prefer to remember you with pleasure with that laugh you had, with your crazy things that brought smiles. You left brother, but you were greatly admired,” he said in another publication.

Although there is no mention of any mental illness on the part of Rodríguez Cedeño, before being last seen he had left his house “shirtless and barefoot.”

Reports of Cubans missing are becoming more frequent in recent months, as well as the publication of requests for help through social networks to obtain information, in the midst of a context of growing violence in the country.

This Friday, Cuban Internet users denounced the inefficiency of the police in the case of the 24-year-old Karildi Marín, missing in Havana since last December 14.

Although until now the complaints and calls for better research came from the woman's family, this time several posts on Facebook show the discomfort that this case has generated in a large part of the population.

Another desperate family is that of Felipe Mir, missing for more than two weeks, when he left Havana on a trip to Holguín.

His relatives ask for help from anyone who can provide them with information that will allow them to find the man's whereabouts.
