A car overturned after being involved in an accident at a major intersection of avenues in Havana.
The events took place at the corner of Zapata and 26, in the Vedado neighborhood of Havana. The car involved was left with its wheels pointing towards the sky on Zapata street, and a group of pedestrians helped to flip it back to its normal position.
"This happened at Zapata and 26; we do not know the extent of the damages," indicated a user who shared images of the incident in the Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones'.
At the time of writing this note, the causes of the accident, whether there were other vehicles involved, and the condition of those involved are unknown.
In the photographs shared in the post, one of the rear wheels of the car is seen misaligned with respect to the axle.
The 26th Avenue in Vedado, Havana is one of the main arteries of the city, where a large number of cars and public transportation vehicles circulate. Due to its layout, dangerous intersections, and malfunctioning traffic lights during power outages, driving on this road is dangerous.
At the end of April, a tourist car ended up overturned in front of the Havana Zoo, located on 26th Avenue, for reasons that are unknown. Internet users reported the incident on social media.
Photographs shared by the author of one of the posts allowed to identify the vehicle as a Hyundai Elantra that arrived in Cuba in October 2021, imported by the company Transtur S.A.
In September 2023, a state taxi overturned in the vicinity of Nuevo Vedado, in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución, in Havana.
Users of the mentioned Facebook group indicated that the accident occurred at the intersection of 26th and 32nd streets and that the car driver had to be taken to Calixto García Hospital with injuries.
Three years earlier, an ambulance overturned on Avenue 26, just before a torrential downpour that caused major flooding in several areas of Havana began.
