A four-story building in the city of Miami caught fire on Monday morning, during which they also found a man shot at the entrance of the property.
According to images shared by various local media outlets, the building located at 431 Northwest 3rd St. was covered in thick smoke around 9:00 a.m.
According to what the rescuers told Local 10, a call around 8:15 a.m. alerted the firefighters to an explosion and many elderly people living in the apartments.
Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the rescuers found a man outside the building who had been shot. Authorities have not been able to link both events yet.
Some of the people trapped in the building were rescued from their balconies, while others were able to exit through the main door.
Due to the magnitude of the fire, firefighting rescue teams have shifted to a "defensive" mode, as the fire is too dangerous to combat from the inside, Local 10 reported.
Two firefighters are reported to be stable after requiring medical attention at the hospital due to heat exhaustion.
At the time of writing this note, no further details of the fire are known.
