A 53-year-old Cuban-born massage therapist was arrested on Tuesday by the Miami police, allegedly for touching a woman's private parts during a massage and then offering her money to keep quiet about what happened.
According to an arrest report, Jorge Cardenio Destrades Llanes was arrested at the Massage Envy, located in Mary Brickell Village at 900 S. Miami Ave, as reported by Local 10.
The police were notified that the man had sexually assaulted a 28-year-old woman while massaging her thigh during a full-body service.
The victim explained to the authorities that Destrades offered money "so that she wouldn't tell anyone."
The arrest report explains that she refused the cash offer, however, he offered to send her money through Zelle.
According to the document, Destrades left the massage room, and when he returned to the room, he asked the young woman for her phone number to send her money.
The police explained that they sent 200 dollars through Zelle, but she "never received it". The investigation revealed that the girl provided an incorrect phone number, which was saved by Destrades on his mobile phone under the victim's name.
However, the masseur defended himself by arguing that he felt the young woman was seducing him, and "that was when he could have accidentally touched her vagina," the report pointed out.
Furthermore, Destrades stated that the young woman asked him if he could "pay for the massage," to which he agreed and sent the $200, the police said.
"He believes that the victim was asking him for money because he had touched her," says the report cited by Local 10.
Destrades was arrested by the police for a charge of sexual assault.
A judge found probable cause to charge Destrades, who on Wednesday remained at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a bond of 7,500 dollars and in pretrial detention, as the case continues to be investigated.
Last April, two men from Miami, one of them of Cuban nationality, were arrested by the police after a sexual encounter arranged with a third party got out of hand. They intimidated him with a toy gun, illegally detained him, and assaulted him.
Cuban Yoandry Mora Martínez, 25, and Colombian Ludwing Duván Ramírez, 26, contacted a man through the Grindr app and offered him money in exchange for sex, but things did not go as planned during the meeting. They allegedly threatened the individual with a fake weapon to get back the money paid, according to arrest reports.
Last January, a 57-year-old Cuban man identified as Andrés Perez was arrested in Miami and charged with sexually abusing his wife's granddaughter since the girl was seven years old.
The victim, who is now 13 years old, told the police that the abuse began when she was seven, and that the man would touch her, force her to touch him, and show her pornography, América TeVe reported.
