A 53-year-old massage therapist of Cuban origin was arrested on Tuesday by Miami police, allegedly for touching a woman's intimate parts during a massage and then offering her money to keep quiet about the incident.
According to an arrest report, Jorge Cardenio Destrades Llanes was detained at the Massage Envy location in Mary Brickell Village at 900 S. Miami Ave, as reported by Local 10.
The police were notified that the man had sexually assaulted a 28-year-old woman while massaging her thigh during a full-body service.
The victim explained to the authorities that Destrades offered them money "so that they wouldn’t tell anyone."
The arrest report explains that she refused the cash offer; however, he offered to send her money through Zelle.
According to the document, Destrades left the massage room, and when he returned to the room, he asked the young woman for her phone number to send her money.
The police explained that she sent 200 dollars through Zelle, but she "never received it." The investigation revealed that the girl provided an incorrect phone number, which Destrades saved in his phone under the victim's name.
However, the masseur defended himself by arguing that he felt the young woman was seducing him, and "it was then that he might have touched her vagina unintentionally," the report pointed out.
Additionally, Destrades stated that the girl asked him if he could "pay for the massage," to which he agreed and sent the 200 dollars, the police reported.
"He believes that the victim was asking him for money because he had touched her," says the report cited by Local 10.
Destrades was arrested by the police for a charge of sexual assault.
A judge found probable cause to charge Destrades, who was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center under a $7,500 bond and in preventive detention as the investigation continues.
In April, two men from Miami, one of whom is of Cuban nationality, were arrested by the police after a sexual encounter arranged with a third person went out of control. They intimidated the individual with a toy gun, held him illegally, and assaulted him.
The Cuban Yoandry Mora Martínez, 25, and the Colombian Ludwing Duván Ramírez, 26, contacted a man through the Grindr app and offered him money in exchange for sex. However, during the meeting, things did not go as planned, and they threatened the individual with a fake weapon to get their money back, according to arrest reports.
In January, a 57-year-old Cuban identified as Andrés Perez was arrested in Miami and charged with sexually abusing his wife's granddaughter since the girl was seven years old.
The victim, who is now 13 years old, told the police that the abuse began when she was seven, and that the man would touch her, forced her to touch him, and showed her pornography, América TeVe reported.
